Electronic Music Production at Shoreline Community College

This is not an official page; it is a personal collection of some student's material, presented with their permission,  from the 2nd yr Electronic Music Production Class. In this class, students use electronic music production and synthesis software to write music for a variety of projects, from Ringtones to "Cage-like" tracks for short videos or animations and music for video games.

RINGTONE
This project is self-descriptive, but what makes a good ringtone? it should have an alert quality; the audio quality should work well on small device speakers; be audible in various noise environments; reflect the owners lifestyle and more.... This Jukebox contains a selection of ringtones from music tech students at SCC.


KITCHEN SINK
Find a room or object somewhere around where you live, record a bunch of sounds associated with it then create a set unique sampled instruments with the sounds. Using only these "home-made" instruments, students wrote these short pieces of electronic music collectively called "The Kitchen Sink".


ORCHESTRAL EMULATION
So much music we hear on TV, Radio and other media sounds like real orchestras, but it isn't, it's synthesis and MIDI. However emulating orchestral sounds is not so straightforward. Getting the instrumental parts right as well as the actual sounds is very important - and sometimes, audio trickery has to be used to help create the illusion...
